Dream boat

In 2008 I sold my house, found the boat of my dreams, and embarked on an adventure voyage around the UK and then across the Bay of Biscay to Spain. After a suitable number of trials and tribulations I arrived in the wonderful city of Barcelona.

The seed of an idea grew

People seemed to love sailing on Gemini just as much as I did. So now I make a living sharing my passion for old boats and spending time on the water. It wasn't the original plan, but sometimes things work out just fine!

Qualifications and experience

Circumnavigated the UK and the Iberian pensinsula, and survived storms in the Bay of Biscay! RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore. Commercial Endorsement to 200 tonnes. RYA/MCA certificates in Sea Survival, First Aid, Short Range Radio.

Gemini of Leith

Dave's own boat is the 1947 classic sloop "Gemini of Leith". When he's not skippering adventures up and down the coast of Catalonia, you can often see Gemini sailing the waters of Barcelona. Look out for her distinctive classic lines and red headsail!

Highly Recommend!

Dave and his boat are lovely. The boat is a beautiful piece of history and allows you to spend private time on the water with friends. I've been on many boats around the world (private and groups) and had an exceptional time on Dave's. If you're looking for a day of boating in Barcelona, this is the trip for you. I didn't do this myself, but I could see this being a phenomenal option for couples who want some private time on the sea.

Unwind with wind!!

Just had our honeymoon in Barcelona, it's an amazing city with plenty to eat, drink and see, after a fantastic week of trying to do as much as possible we could not have found a better way to relax and chill out than our trip with Dave on Gemini. We took the sunset cruise and it was just the two of us, Dave is really friendly and made our evening very relaxed, perfect way to end our honeymoon. He is also very knowledgeable about Barcelona too. Can't recommend it enough.

Recommended!

We had a very fun afternoon sailing on Gemini with Dave. A lovely wooden boat with room for all our stuff and it was great to be able to take our own food and drinks onboard (there's an easily accessible coolbox!). It was fairly blustery when we were out so we got to experience some "proper" sailing and basking in the sunshine was great. My only tip would be - take some warm clothing if you're out later on towards the evening, we got a little chilly on the journey back but then it was only April! It was a highly memorable part of our trip.

Amazing afternoon

My sister and I spent an afternoon on Dave's boat and it was one of the best things we did on our trip. The views are amazing, the boat is beautiful and Dave is a great captain. The views from the ocean are incredible and really lets you see Barcelona from another perspective. We were able to bring lunch and cava and just lay in the quiet sun for a few hours. We were originally scheduled for a Monday but the weather was bad so Dave was very accommodating in rescheduling with us. Would definitely recommend!

A Must-Do While In Barcelona!

While in Barcelona, this was THE best thing we did by far! We had an amazing day out on the sea. Captain Dave was an amazing crew and looked after us to perfection. We had lots of fun. Thank you David.

Sailing Bracelona

Excellent value for money sail on board a classic sail boat which is easy to access. We had a three hour sail and swim in the deep ocean on a beautiful autumn day. I would highly recommend this trip, Dave is a very laid back friendly individual overall great day out.
